In order to proceed to the registration of a new .gr
.eu .com .net .org .biz .info domain name please use the application
whois ,
so that you ascertain
that the name you tend to register is free.
According to the being legislation that conditions the way of
operation and management of .gr domains, the deposit of the registrating
application from the registrar to the Registry, involves simultaneously
the registrar's charge to EETT for the fees of the registration
of the specific domain. The registration applications of the .gr
domains are directly submitted to the registry, in case off succefull
payment.
The final decision about the cession or not of the .gr domain
that you will select, is received after a session of the National Telecommunications & Post
Commission. Domain names that are
not ceded are the .gr domains that raise from one of the following
categories:
- Names of Municipalities, Communities and Toponymies which are ceded only from the corresponding authorities of the local government.
- Names that do not have distinguishable character.
- Countries' codes according to ÉSO
- .gr domains that already exists the corresponding registered .gr domain under the third level .gr domain .gov .gr.
Independently from whether the .gr domain that you will select
is free, or the .gr domain that you select belongs to one of the
above categories, it will be rejected by the National Telecommunications & Post
Commission.
The domain name activation is accomplished (after the payment is
done ) with the start up of the root name servers of the Institution
of Technology and Research, that is every 3 to 6 hours.

(ITE). The registration process, on condition that all the involved networks
function regularly, has as it follows:
The registrer submits the registration application for the domain he selected,
which is promoted immediately to the Registry. The registrer receives from
the registrar a confirmative email with the application's protocol number.
Then provided that the way of payment which has been selected is the credit card,
and the payment is made successfully, the domain is completely activated at
the domains control panel.
