According to the Decision of the National Telecommunications & Post
Commission (N.T.P.C./E.E.T.T.) with regard to the Management of Internet Names of
Domain [.GR] each registration is subjected to a fee payment for the renewal. The renewal is accomplished
automatically, and it lasts for two years, with the simple payment of the corresponding
fee.
According to the current legislation that conditions the way of
the .gr domains operation and management, the registrar is prohibited
to renew the .gr domains of his customers by his own initiative,
if there is not the customer's consent and has not been paid the
fee for the renewal.
In order to ensure the ownership of your .gr domain, we request
you to attend for the convenient renewal of the registration time
before the expiration date of your .gr domain. IP reminds you about
the expiring domains, sending you automaticaly, informative e-mails,
ninety (90), thirty (30) and seven (7) days before the expiration
of your .gr domain.
Up to now, the tactic of the Institution of Technology and Research,
at which many .gr domains worked for years without to be paid the
renewal fees, does not apply to the new management system.
.gr domains are deactivated and erased automatically
by the Registry, if they have not been renewed precisely
on their expiration date.
The expired domains are in the status of quatrantine for 15 days
after their expiration date. During this period the right for
re-registration has only the previous owner of the domain.
After these 15 days the domain is free, every right of the previous
owner stops having effect and can be registered from anyone interested.
