Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
What is Two Factor Authentication (2FA)?
Two Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security system that strengthens access security by requiring two distinct forms of identification in order users to verify themselves and gain access to a website or service.
This is achieved through an additional factor -besides the password- that is required during the authentication process, such as a one-time password that regenerates every few seconds. This code typically consists of 6 digits and is also known as time-based one-time password (TOTP).
So, this brings us to the fact that 2FA makes it harder for attackers to gain access to online accounts because knowing the password alone, is not enough to pass the authentication check.
How does 2FA work?
As the second factor of 2FA is generated by an app, you will need to install an Authenticator app on a device (mobile or tablet) before activating 2FA.
Below you can find a list of some of the most popular -and free- Authenticator apps:

How can I enable 2FA?
- Log into your IP.GR account.
- Go to My account and select 2FA.
- Click the Enable button.
- Open the Authenticator app that you have previously installed on your device and select Add account or the "+" symbol.
- Scan with your camera the QR Code that you will find in step 1 in our website.
Note: In case you cannot scan the QR Code with the camera of your device, you can alternatively enter the Setup Key into the Authenticator app that you use, which can be found under the QR Code. - Type the code that is generated by your Authenticator app.
- Click Submit.
- If the 2FA has been successfully activated, you will be given 6 codes.
Copy and save them somewhere safe. These codes can help you go through the second step of the 2FA authentication process, in case you have no access to your device (code generator) due to loss / damage e.t.c.
I do not have access to the device with the Authenticator app that I used to enable 2FA with. What should I do?
If for some reason you do not have access to your device to obtain the generated code, you can use one of the 6 codes that were given to you right after the 2FA activation.
These codes were not sent by e-mail and are not accessible through your IP.GR account.
In case you didn't save them, contact us to regain access to your account.
