What is DNS?

The Internet is using an allocated name system which is referred to as Domain Naming System (DNS). DNS allows us to refer to computers and other devices (for instance routers) using names (the domain names) and not the IP address (Internet Protocol address) which is difficult to remember and inconvenient to use. For example, it is much more easier to remember www.ip.gr rather than 123.X.XX.XX.
DNS is responsible for translating the domain names to the relative IP addresses. For example, IP.GR has registered the domain ip.gr to name in a unique way its presence in the Internet.
To obtain your own Domain Name you must first check domain availability and then proceed to domain registration through an application / website of an approved domain name registrar such as IP.GR.
