Drupal Tutorial - Create your Home page
The homepage of your website gives the first impression on your visitors, for this reason it should be simple and informative at the same time, for someone that is interested for you and your services. Additionally it should have a small size so it does not need time to load.
For this tutorial, we will create a very simple static page which we will set it as the default Home Page, based on a Drupal Basic Page. You can set its style in any way you want and add different sections to it later.
Create a basic page and set it as Home page
First you will have to create the page that will be set as Home page of your website. In order to do this, navigate to Content > Add Content > Basic Page and you will be transferred to the content creation page.
Inside there you can add and format the content for your new Home page. When you are ready, scroll down and expand the Publishing Options tab. There you should check the Published and Promoted to front page options. Finally, click the Save button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
Make sure that when you finish creating your Home page to note the URL address somewhere because you will need it for the next step. This address will be something like this /node/1.
To set the newly created page as a Home page for your website the only thing you have to do is is to navigate to Configuration > Site Information. There locate the Front Page category and the Default front page field where you have to insert the URL address you noted in the previous step and is the address to your new Home page.
If you reload your website you will see your new Home page that you just created.
