What is phishing?
The phishing emails are identified as a scam. In this case you receive an email, which seems entirely legitimate and comes from a trusted website.
For example you might receive an email from your bank asking you to log into your account. A link in that email will take you to the login page in your bank website. Or to be more precise, a login page that looks EXACTLY as your bank website.
The purpose of this kind of message is obviously to elicit your login information. To avoid such scams, never connect through the links that are included in these emails.
Visit the website directly and sign in to your account from there. Moreover it would be good to keep in mind that no financial institution would never ask you to provide confidential information such as your password, via email.
