If you do not want to display the entire text of a post in your website you can create an excerpt which will be shown. This way your visitors will have to click the Continue Reading link of the post in order to read the full article.
To do this navigate to Posts > Add New. In the new post page you can add the Read More... tag by clicking the Insert Read More tag button at the top of the text editor.
If you prefer to type your posts in Text/HTML mode, you can use the following HTML tag:

The text on top of --MORE-- tag will be shown as an excerpt in your website with all the other posts you have published, and the remaining text below the --MORE-- tag will be shown when a visitor clicks the Continue Reading link.
Finally click the Publish button in order to publish your new post.
